of writing and acknowledged the same to
be his act and deed; and at the same time appeared
Nicholas R. Warfield the grantee named in said
Mortgage or instrument of writing and made
oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God that the
consideration mentioned therein is true and bona
fide as therein set forth.  Acknowledged and sworn before
me on the date aforesaid

Know all men by these presents that
I T. Watkins Ligon of Howard county
in the state of maryland being the
owner of Negroes Andrew and Jerry
slaves for a term of years by a virtue of a Bill of sale
executed to me by Michael Pue of Howard Co Executor
of the last will and testament of D.r Arthur Pue
late of the City and County of Baltimore and state
of maryland aforesaid deceased (which will bears
date the thirteenth day of December Eighteen hundred
and forty five and with the Codicil thereto
annexed dated the twenty first day of Oct. Eighteen
hundred and forty six have been duly
proven and are now of record in the office of the
Register of Wills of Baltimore City and county
aforesaid) for and in consideration of the sum
of nine hundred dollars lawful money to me
in hand paid by Bernard M. Campbell of Baltimore
city at or before the sealing and delivery
hereof the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge
I the said T. Watkins Ligon by virtue and in pursuance
of an order of the orphans court of Howard
County and state aforesaid dated the twentieth
day of February 1855 have bargained sold and
delivered and by these presents do bargain sell and
deliver unto the said Bernard M. Campbell
his Executors Administrators and assigns
the following negroes that is to say Andrew
a mulatto man aged twenty one years about 5
months and Jerry a dark brown man aged twenty
years & about five months.  The said Andrew to serve
eight years from the twentieth day of sept Eighteen
