Marriott of the county and state aforesaid at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have granted bargained and sold and delivered and by these presents do grant bargain sell and deliver unto the said Jonathan Marriott his executors administrators heirs and assigns one negro boy named Andrew aged seventeen (17) years the 9.th June 1858 to serve until he arrives at the age of Thirty one years and then be free according to a deed of manumission bearing date the eighteenth day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty two and recorded among the records of Howard County in Liber E. P. H. No 2 folio 428 a reference thereto being hand will more full and at large appear To have and to hold the said negro boy Andrew above bargained and sold to the said Jonathan Marriott his executors administrators heirs and assigns which said negro boy Andrew I will warrant and defend unto the said Jonathan Marriott his executors administrators heirs and assigns and against my executors administrators heirs and assigns and against every other person or persons whomsoever. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this eighth day of November eighteen hundred and fifty eight Signed sealed and Jonathan Waters (seal) delivered in the presence of Thomas J. White Emma Jones State of Maryland Howard County fsct: Be it remembered and it is hereby certified that on this eighth day of November eighteen hundred and fifty eight before me the subscriber a justice of the Peace for the county and state aforesaid appears Doct Jonathan Waters he being known to us and acknowledges ^the^ foregoing Instrument of writing to be his act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof: And before me personally appears also Jonathan Marriott the within named grantee and makes oath in due form of law that the consideration set forth in the foregoing bill of sale or Instrument of writing is true and bona fida as therein set forth In testimony whereof I hereunto subscribe my name on the day & year aforesaid.
