232 in and for the County of Carroll personally appears James Sykes who is personally known to me to be the person named and described as and professing to be the grantor herein before mentioned in this deed and acknowledged the same to be his act and deed for the purposes therein mentioned In testimony whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name Nicholas D. Norris Justice of the Peace Rec.d to be recorded on the 17.th day of April 1857 same day recorded & Examined per W. H. Worthington Clk
of three thousand dollars current money to be paid to the said State of Maryland or its certain attorney or assigns to which payment well and truly to be made and done we bind ourselves and each of us and each of our heirs executors and administrators jointly and severly firmly by these presents sealed with our and dated this twenty first day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty seven Now the Condition of the above obligation is such that if the above bound Joshua M.cCauley shall well and faithfully execute his office as Collector of the State taxes and shall well and truly account for and pay over to the treasurer of the State of Maryland the several sum of money which he shall receive or be answerable for at such times as the law directs then this obligation to be null and void otherwise to remain in full force and virtue Signed sealed and delivered Joshua M.cCauley (seal) in the presence of W.m Hughes (seal) David Feelemyer Tho.s M.cCrea (seal) April 21.st 1857 Approved by the Board of Comm.rs of How.d Co Cha.s G.
