265 John slave for a term of years the property of the said minors. And whereas in pursuance of said order the said Edward R Goslin has sold said boy to Samuel M. Traverse for the Consideration hereinafter mentioned. Now this Indenture Witnesseth that I Edward R. Goslin of Dorchester County in the State of Maryland in Consideration of the sum of Three Hundred Dollars paid me by Samuel M. Traverse resident of said County do hereby bargain and sell to the said Samuel M. Traverse the said negro boy John for the term of six years and ten months from the first day of March next ensuing the said negro being a slave for the term of six years and ten months from the first day of March next ensuing or until the first day of January Eighteen hundred and sixty four and no longer and the said Samuel M Traverse being entitled to said slave for the whole of said term. Witness our hands and seals this twenty fourth day of February Eighteen Hundred and fifty seven Test Edward R. I hereby certify that on this 24th day of February 1857 before the subscriber a Justice of the Peace for Dorchester County aforesaid Personally appeared Edward R. Goslin and acknowledged the foregoing Bill of Sale to be his act. Charles Corkran J. P. State of Maryland Dorchester County to wit: I hereby Certify that on this 4th day of March 1857 before the subscriber a Justice of the Peace for Dorchester County aforesaid personally appeared Samuel M. Traverse and acknowledged the foregoing Bill of Sale to be his act at same time said Samuel M. Traverse made oath on the Holy Evangelly of Almighty God that the consideration set fourth in said Bill of Sale is true and boni fide as therein set fourth. Levi D. Travers J. P. Samuel M. Travers Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that the following √ from Bill of Sale was received and recorded on the 9th day of March 1857 Thomas Lambdin & We, Thomas Lambdin and Margaret Lambdin of Dorchester County Margaret Lambdin in Consideration of One thousand Dollars paid me by Samuel ^M^ Travers resident of the said County do hereby bargain and sell to the said Samuel M. Travers my negroes James Warfield for the term of fifteen years and Elizabeth Warfield for the term of Fifteen years from the first day of January last and no longer and the said Elizabeth Warfield being a slave for the term of twelve years from the first day of January last and no longer and the said Samuel M. Travers being entitled to the said slaves for the whole of the said term of each.
