party grantors in the aforegoing Bill of sale & acknowledged the same to be their act &
Deed and at the same time personally appears James A. Stewart party grantee in the said
Bill of Sale and made oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God that the Consideration
mentioned in the said Bill of Sale is true & bona fide as therein set forth to the best of his
Knowledge & belief            Acknowledged & sworn before me     Charles Corkran J. P.


Benjamin Ross      Be it remembered and it is hereby certified that the following
paid   from  x.d      Bill of Sale was received and recorded on the 11th day of June
Eliza Brodess         in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight hundred and fifty
                              five To wit:
                                                    Know all men by these presents that I Eliza
Brodess of Dorchester County and state of Maryland for and in consideration of the
sum of Twenty dollars current money to me in hand paid by Benjamin Ross (cold.
man) of Dorchester county and state of Maryland have granted bargained and
sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said Benjamin Ross
(Cold man) his heirs and assigns the following negro woman named Ritty aged about
fifty five years slave for life and sound in body and mind To Have and to hold
the said negro woman Ritty aged about fifty five years as above bargained and sold
unto the said Benjamin Ross his heirs executors administrators and assigns against
me the said Eliza Brodess my heirs executors and administrators and against all
and every other person or persons whatsoever shall and will warrant and forever defend.

             In Testimony Whereof I Eliza Brodess have hereto set my hand and affixed
seal this 11th day of June eighteen hundred and Fifty five
signed sealed and Delivered                                          Eliza A. Brodess   (seal)
    in the presence of
                Whitefield Woolford   Charles Corkran

State of Maryland Dorchester County to wit:
             On the 11th day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and fifty five personally appeared before me a Justice of the Peace in and for said county
the within named Eliza Brodess and acknowledged the within bill of sale to be her
act and deed according to the purport true intent and meaning of the same
                               Acknowledged Before      Whitefield Woolford J. P.
                                                                                        Charles Corkran J. P.

On account of the above or within Bill of Sale being neglected to be filed Mrs Eliza
Brodess came before me and acknowledged the same to be her act & deed this 11 day
June 1855                                                                     Charles Corkran  J. P.

Delivered to Benjamin Ross October 20th 1855


Rueben S. Tall             Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that the following
    √   from                   Bill of Sale was received and recorded on the 21st day of June
Benjamin G. Tubman   in the year of our Lord Eighteen Hundred and Fifty Five to wit
                                                 Know all men by these presents that I Benjamin
G. Tubman of Dorchester County in the State of Maryland for and in consideration of the
sum of fifteen hundred and fifty dollars Current money to me in hand paid by Reuben
S. Tall of the County and State aforesaid at and before the sealing and delivery of these
