Article - Correctional Services

2-301.

(a)     In this subtitle the following words have the meanings indicated.

(b)     "Council" means the Advisory Council on Offender Employment
Coordination.

(e) "Executive Director" means the Executive Director of the Advisory Council
on Offender Employment Coordination.

(d)     (C) (1) "Governmental unit" means a permanent instrumentality in the
Executive, Legislative, or Judicial Branch of State government.

(2) "Governmental unit" includes a department, board, commission,
agency, or a subunit in the Executive, Legislative, or Judicial Branch of State
government and those county-funded State entities specified in Article 24, § 8-101 of
the Code.

(e)     (D) "Offender" means a present or former inmate, or any individual
under the correctional supervision of the Department.

2-302.

There is an Advisory Council on Offender Employment Coordination in the
Department.

2-303.

The Council consists of:

(1)     one member of the Senate of Maryland, appointed by the President of
the Senate;

(2)     one member of the House of Delegates, appointed by the Speaker of
the House;

(3)     the Secretary of Public Safety and Correctional Services;

(4)     the State Superintendent of Education;

(5)     one representative of Baltimore City appointed by the Mayor of
Baltimore;

(6)     one representative of the Judicial Branch of the State government
appointed by the Chief Judge of the Court of Appeals; [and]

(7)     THE SECRETARY OF LABOR, LICENSING, AND REGULATION; AND
[(7)] (8) seven members appointed by the Governor as follows:

(i) four representatives of the business community;

(ii) two representatives of faith based or nonprofit communities;
and
