(b) (1)] (A) On request of any local authority, the State Highway
Administration shall investigate and, on its own initiative, it may investigate any
bridge or other elevated structure that is a part of a highway.

[(2)] (B) If it determines that the structure cannot safely withstand the
weight of vehicles traveling at the maximum speed limit otherwise permitted by this
subtitle, the State Highway Administration shall:

[(i)] (1) Establish the maximum speed limit that the structure can
safely withstand; and

[(ii)] (2) At each approach to the structure, place or permit the
placement of a suitable sign stating the maximum speed limit.

[(3)] (C) A maximum speed limit established under this section is
effective when posted on appropriate signs giving notice of the limit.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
October 1, 2004.

(House Bill 95)

AN ACT concerning

Maryland Horse Industry Board - Penalties

FOR the purpose of authorizing the Maryland Horse Industry Board, rather than
pursuing criminal penalties, to impose a certain an administrative penalty on
any person who violates the Board's regulatory requirements; certain laws
executed and enforced by the Board; requiring certain penalties to be paid into
the General Fund of the State; requiring the Board to adopt certain regulations;
and generally relating to the enforcement authority of the Maryland Horse
Industry Board.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,
Article -Agriculture
Section 2-718

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
