NOTE
Two hundred three bills were vetoed by the Governor following the 2002 Regular
Session of the General Assembly. One hundred six of these bills originated in the
Senate and ninety-seven of them originated in the House of Delegates. Pursuant to
the provisions of Section 17 of Article II of the Constitution of Maryland, a vetoed bill
will not be returned to the Legislature when a new General Assembly of Maryland
has been elected and sworn since the passage of the vetoed bill. However, if the
General Assembly convenes in Special Session prior to the election and swearing in of
the newly elected members, the vetoed bills may be reconsidered in order to
determine whether the veto is sustained or overridden.
