Association, the University of Maryland Medical System, the Johns Hopkins
University Hospital Health System, the Medical and Chirurgical Faculty of the State
of Maryland, the Medical Group Management Association, the Mid-Atlantic
Association of Community Health Centers, and other affected parties in developing a
uniform standard credentialing form, for purposes of § 19-319(e) of the
Health - General Article as enacted by this Act, that is to be used for the uniform and
consistent collection of the basic information required by all hospitals as part of the
credentialing process.
SECTION 4. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That in conjunction with the
process of developing a uniform standard credentialing form under Section 3 of this
Act, the Secretary shall examine methods to address delays in carrier processing of
physicians' initial applications for credentialing.
SECTION 5. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That Section 1 of this Act shall
take effect July 1, 2003.
SECTION 4. 6. 5. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That, except as provided
in Section 5 4 of this Act, this Act shall take effect July 1, 2002.

(Senate Bill 820)
AN ACT concerning
Health - Managed Care Organizations - Credentialing
FOR the purpose of authorizing a managed care organization to deem a health care
provider credentialed for a certain period of time under certain circumstances
and upon certain verification; prohibiting a certain entity from refusing to
provide verify certain information to for a managed care organization; providing
that this Act does not relieve a managed care organization of certain obligations;
and generally relating to the credentialing of a health care provider by a
managed care organization.
