AN ACT concerning
Charles County - Length of Service Award - Early Receipt of Benefits
FOR the purpose of allowing certain members who are a certain minimum age to
receive certain benefits equal to a certain percentage under certain
circumstances; requiring a certain member's credit for additional years of
service to be equal to a certain percentage of certain benefits; requiring the
election of certain benefits to be a final choice of benefits; and generally relating
to benefits under the Length of Service Award Program for Charles County.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:
Article 9 - Charles County
54-9.
L. BEGINNING IN JULY 1999, A MEMBER WHO IS AT LEAST FIFTY-FIVE (55)
YEARS OLD AND HAS COMPLETED A MINIMUM OF TWENTY-FIVE (25) YEARS OF
QUALIFYING SERVICE, MAY ELECT TO RECEIVE AN- EARLY LENGTH OF SERVICE
AWARD PROGRAM BENEFIT EQUAL TO 75% OF THE BENEFIT THAT PERSON WOULD
HAVE RECEIVED AT THE AGE OF SIXTY (60) YEARS. THAT MEMBER'S CREDIT FOR
ADDITIONAL YEARS OF SERVICE SHALL EQUAL 75% OF THE BENEFIT AWARDED TO A
MEMBER WHO BEGINS BENEFITS AT THE AGE OF SIXTY (60) YEARS. THE ELECTION
OF EARLY LENGTH OF SERVICE AWARD PROGRAM BENEFITS SHALL BE A FINAL
CHOICE OF BENEFITS BY THE MEMBER
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect October July 1, 1999.
