Ch. 14

Occurred: As a result of Ch. 262, Acts of 1994.

2-1308.

(a) In addition to any duties set forth elsewhere, the Department shall:

(4) index and preserve all of the information that is gathered under this
subsection, so that the information is easily accessible to State officials at all times and is
open for public inspection; [and]

(5) ASSIGN A CHAPTER NUMBER TO EACH BILL, AND A JOINT
RESOLUTION NUMBER TO EACH JOINT RESOLUTION, THAT, BY OPERATION OF LAW, BECOMES LAW WITHOUT THE SIGNATURE OF THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE, AND NOTIFY THE SECRETARY OF STATE IN WRITING OF THESE ASSIGNMENTS; AND

(6) (i) annually make:

1. a list that includes the name, position, term of office, and
salary of each civil officer whom the Governor appointed during the preceding calendar

year; and

2. a list that includes the name, position, term of office, and
salary of each civil officer whose term expires during the current calendar year;

Assembly; and
and

(ii) 1. send a copy of each list to each member of the General
2. make the lists available to any person who requests them;

(iii) make the lists applicable only to civil officers whom the Governor
appoints, subject to the approval of the Senate or the House of Delegates.

DRAFTER'S NOTE:

Clarifying language in § 2-1308(a)(4) and (5) of the State Government Article
in a manner that reflects current practice.

2-1309.

(a) (1) After each regular session, the Department shall compile and index:

(i) the laws that are enacted during that session;

(ii) the executive orders that have been [delivered to the Department
under § 3-405 of this article] ADOPTED PURSUANT TO ARTICLE II, § 24 OF THE
MARYLAND CONSTITUTION since the last compilation;

(iii) the certificates of the State Administrative Board of Election Laws
as to the referendum vote on a law, if the vote has not been published previously; and

(iv) the titles of laws and statements of referendum on laws of each
municipal corporation, code county, and charter county that have been delivered to the
Department as required by law.
