AN ACT concerning
State Board of Nursing Department of Health and Mental Hygiene - Nursing Assistants
- Certification
FOR the purpose of requiring an individual to be certified by the State Board of Nursing
by a certain date to regulate that nursing assistants who practice in the State be
regulated; by a certain date before practicing as a nursing assistant, using certain
titles, and making certain representations; making certain exceptions; requiring the
State Board of Nursing to adopt certain regulations; establishing procedures for the
certification of nursing assistants and the issuance and renewal of nursing assistant
certificates; authorizing the State Board of Nursing to waive certain qualifications
for certification as a nursing assistant under specified circumstances; establishing
grounds for the denial of certificates and the discipline of certificate holders;
establishing certain penalties; requiring the State Board of Nursing to appoint a
certain advisory committee; requiring the State Board of Nursing to take certain
actions relating to the approval of nursing assistant training programs; establishing
certain requirements for nursing assistant training programs; requiring certain
individuals to submit to certain examinations under specified circumstances;
requiring the State Board of Nursing to disclose certain information to certain
officials; altering a certain provision of law authorizing the use of certain titles by
unlicensed individuals; defining certain terms; providing for a delayed effective date
for certain provisions of this Act requiring the establishment of a certain advisory
committee; specifying the composition of the committee and its responsibilities;
requiring the State Board of Nursing Department of Health and Mental Hygiene to
make a certain report on or before a certain date; and generally relating to the
certification of nursing assistants by the State Board of Nursing.
BY adding to

6A. Certification of Nursing Assistants"
