The Honorable Thomas V. Mike Miller, Jr.
President of the Senate
State House
Annapolis MD 21401
Dear Mr. President:
In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland Constitution, I have today
vetoed Senate Bill 719.
This bill authorizes the University of Maryland System to sell a total of $40,000,000 of
Academic Facilities Bonds to be used for the construction of the Maryland Center for the
Performing Arts, University of Maryland College Park and for capital facilities renewal
projects at several academic facilities within the University of Maryland System.
House Bill 1103, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me on May 14,
1996, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign Senate
Bill 719.
Sincerely,
Parris N. Glendening
Governor

thereafter; and approving the issuance of bonds by the University of Maryland
System for financing the projects.
