Ch. 585                                    1996 LAWS OF MARYLAND

Order 01.01.1995.18 is substituted for the superseded Executive Order
01.01.1992.02.

840. MEMBERSHIP.

(a)     (1) The Board consists of 17 members who shall serve without
compensation.

(2) The Board shall consist of:

(i) [the] THE Governor or the Governor's designee, as an ex officio
member, who shall be chairman;

(ii) [the] THE Attorney General or the Attorney General's designee;

(iii) [2] TWO State's Attorneys, appointed by the Governor, on the
recommendation of the Attorney General;

(iv) [3] THREE members of the public, appointed by the Governor, on
the recommendation of the Executive Director;

(v) [2] TWO professional victim service providers, appointed by the
Governor, on recommendation of the Executive Director;

(vi) [the] THE chairperson of the Maryland Criminal Injuries
Compensation Board;

(vii) [1] ONE member of the judiciary of the State, appointed by the
Chief Judge of the Court of Appeals;

(viii) [a] A representative of the Maryland State Sheriff's Association,
appointed by the Governor;

(ix) [a] A representative of the Maryland Chiefs of Police, appointed
by the Governor;

(x) [the] THE Secretary of [the Department of] Human Resources
or the Secretary's designee;

(xi) [the] THE Secretary of [the Department of] Juvenile Justice or
the Secretary's designee;

(xii) [the] THE Secretary of Public Safety and Correctional Services or
the Secretary's designee; and

(xiii) [the] THE Executive Director or the Executive Director's
designee, as an ex officio member.

(b)     (1) The term of an appointed member is 5 years.

(2)     The terms of appointed members are staggered as required by the terms
provided for members of the Board on July 1, 1988.

(3)     At the end of a term, a member continues to serve until a successor is
appointed and qualifies.
