(I) (II) UNITED STATES HISTORY; AND
(II) (III) CITIZENSHIP PREPARATION;
(4) (5) MAKE AVAILABLE OR INCREASE THE AVAILABILITY OF
ASSISTANCE IN COMPLETING APPLICATIONS FOR NATURALIZATION;
(5) (6) ESTABLISH AN EFFECTIVE CONNECTION TO NONPARTISAN
VOTER REGISTRATION EFFORTS;
(6) (7) ENCOURAGE THE INVOLVEMENT OF NEW CITIZENS IN
DEMOCRATIC INSTITUTIONS; AND
(6) (8) WORK WITH THE FEDERAL, STATE, AND LOCAL AGENCIES AND
ORGANIZATIONS TO RESPOND TO THE NEED FOR CITIZENSHIP SERVICES IN THE
STATE.
(G) THE DEPARTMENT SHALL SUBMIT AN ANNUAL REPORT TO THE
GOVERNOR AND, SUBJECT TO § 2-1312 OF THE STATE GOVERNMENT ARTICLE, TO
THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY REGARDING THE STATUS AND EFFECTIVENESS OF THE
PROGRAM ESTABLISHED UNDER THIS SUBTITLE.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
October 1, 1995.

AN ACT concerning
Citizenship Promotion Program
FOR the purpose of establishing a Citizenship Promotion Program in the Department of
Human Resources; authorizing the Department of Human Resources to adopt
regulations and policies to administer the Program; requiring State executive
departments and agencies to cooperate with the Department to implement the
Program; defining the purpose and activities of the Program; requiring authorizing
the Secretary of the Department of Human Resources to secure funding for the
Program from a certain source the State budget subject to a certain limitation;
requiring the Department to submit an annual report to the Governor and the
General Assembly regarding the status of the Program; defining certain terms; and
generally relating to the establishment of the Citizenship Promotion Program.
