75. State of Maryland, City of Baltimore Sct. Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified, that on this twenty third day of February in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and forty eight, before the subscriber, a Justice of the Peace, in and for the City and state aforesaid, personally appeared Stewart Geoghegan, he being known to me to the person who is named as and professing to be a party of the first part to the aforegoing instrument of writing, and Acknowledged the said Indenture, or instrument of writing to be his act and deed - And at the same time appeared James Smith, agent of John W. D. Travers, and made Oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God that the consideration mentioned in said instrument of writing is a bona fide consideration as therein set forth. Acknowledged and sworn before, John S. Selby State of Maryland, Baltimore County, Sct. I hereby certify that John S. Selby Esquire, before whom the annexed acknowledgment & affidavit were made, and who hath thereto subscribed his name, was, at the time of so doing, a Justice of the Peace of the State of Maryland, in & for the City of Baltimore, duly commissioned and sworn. Harmon Be it remembered that the following Bill of Sale 70 from Ex.d was recorded on the 21.st day of March 1848, To wit: James W. Biggs Know all Men by these presents that I James W. Biggs of Dorchester County in the state of Maryland, for and in consideration of the sum of Eighty dollars current money to me in hand paid by George G. Harmon of said County & state aforesaid at and before the sealing and delivering of these presents, the receipt whereof I the said James W. Biggs do hereby acknowledge, have granted, bargained & sold, and by these presents do grant, bargain and sell, unto the said George G. Harmon, his Executors, Administrators and Assigns, one Grey Mare named Jenny purchased of James Hutchinson. To have and to hold all & singular the said Grey Mare named Jenny, above bargained and sold, or mentioned and intended so to be, to the said George G. Harmon, his Executors, Administrators and Assigns forever. And I the said James W. Biggs for myself my heirs, Executors and Administrators, all and singular the said Grey mare named Jenny, to the said George G. Harmon, his Executors, Administrators & Assigns, against me the said James W. Biggs, my Executors and Administrators, and against all and every other person or persons whatsoever, shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents - of all and singular the said Gray Mare named Jenny, I the said James W. Biggs have put the said George G. Harmon in full possession by delivering to him the said George G. Harmon the said |
