Dorchester County, sc.t   Be it remembered and it is hereby certified that on the
30.th day of December 1847 personally appeared before the subscriber a Justice of the
Peace in and for said County William Jackson and Acknowledged the above instrument
of writing to be his Act and deed according to the true intent and
meaning thereof and the Acts of Assembly in such cases made & provided.

James & W.m Rea      Be it remembered that the following Mortgage Bill of Sale
             from   Ex.d     was recorded on the 30.th day of December 1847, To wit:
John W. Stevens         This Indenture made this Eighteenth day of December in
                                   the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred & forty
seven between John W. Stevens of the Town of Cambridge of the one part
and James Rea & William Rea of the same place of the other part
Whereas the said John W. Stevens owes and stands justly indebted to the
said James Rea & William Rea in the sum of Thirty eight dollars for
arrearages of rent of the present year and to secure the payment thereof
is willing to execute these presents   Now this Indenture Witnesseth
that the said John W. Stevens for and in consideration of the Premises
and of the sum of Five dollars current money to him in hand paid
by the said James Rea and William Rea at and before the sealing and
delivery of these presents the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged,
hath granted, bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant,
bargain and sell unto the said James Rea & William Rea, their Executors,
Administrators and Assigns all and singular the Stock, goods,
furniture and house hold stuff herein after particularly mentioned & expressed
that is to say One Bay Horse, one Waggon, two Beds, steads & furniture, one
folding leaf Table, one safe, six chairs, three carpets, one honing Table, two sets
and Iron, two sets Shovel & tongs, one Mahogany Stand, and all other House hold
furniture I own   To have and to hold all and singular the said Stock,
goods, furniture and House hold Stuff unto the said James Rea & William
Rea, their executors, Administrators and Assigns to them & their own use and
behoof.  Provided Always, and it is declared to be the true intent and
meaning of these presents that if the said John W. Stevens do and shall
well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said James Rea & William
Rea, their executors, Administrators or Assigns the full sum of thirty eight
dollars current money with legal interest for the same on or before the
first day of March next ensuing the date hereof then and in such case these
presents and every matter and thing herein contained shall cease, determine and be
utterly void to all intents and purposes any thing herein contained to the contrary
notwithstanding.  In testimony whereof the said John W. Stevens hath set
his hand and seal as dated above.
