362. and every other person or persons whatsoever, shall & will warrant & forever defend by these presents. In Witness whereof I have set my hand & seal this twentieth day of September Eighteen hundred & fifty one (1851) Signed, sealed & delivered in the Benton H. Crockett (seal) presence of James Rea State of Maryland, Dorchester County Ss: Be it remembered that on this twentieth day of September 1851, before me the subscriber, a Justice of the Peace for the County and state aforesaid, appears Benton & Crockett, of the County & State aforesaid, and acknowledges the above instrument of writing to be his act & deed, according to the true intent and meaning thereof. At the same time personally appears Ann Jane Barrow, party grantee within named, and makes Oath, on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God, that the consideration mentioned in the foregoing Bill of Sale is true and bona fide as therein set forth. Acknowledged before me James Rea J. P. Rec.d Oct 6.th 1851 one dollar in lieu of a stamp on this Bill of sale Wm Jackson Clk Crockett Hannah E. H. Be it remembered that the following Ex.d from 75 Bill of sale was recorded on the Ann Jane Barrow 6th day of October 1851, To wit: Know all men by these presents that I, Ann Jane Barrow, of Baltimore City and State of Maryland, for and in consideration of the sum of one dollar, current money of Maryland, in hand paid by Hannah E. H. Crockett of the County of Dorchester and State aforesaid, at or before the sealing of these presents, the receipt whereof is hereby Acknowledged, have granted, bargained and sold, and by these presents do grant, bargain & sell unto the said Hannah E. H. Crockett, her Executors, Administrators & Assigns, one Negro Woman Caroline, aged twenty one years, a slave for life: To have and to hold the said Negro Woman Caroline, as above bargained & sold, to the said Hannah E. H. Crockett, her Executors, Administrators & Assigns forever. And I, the said Ann Jane Barrow, for myself, my heirs, Executors and Administrators, the said Negro Woman Caroline unto the said Hannah E. H. Crockett, her Executors, Administrators & Assigns Deliv.d Oct 9 1851 to B. H. Crockett |
