281 David M. Corkran Be it remembered & it is hereby certified that Ex.d from 75 the following Bill of Sale was recorded on the Harrison D. Barnett & 26.th day of October A. D. 1850, To wit: Rose Ann Barnett Know all men by these presents that we Harrison D. Barnett and Rose Ann Barnett, both of Dorchester County and State of Maryland, for and in consideration of the sum of Fourteen hundred dollars, current money of Maryland, to us in hand paid by David M. Corkran, of the County and State aforesaid, at & before the sealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof we the said Harrison & Rose Ann do hereby acknowledge, have granted, bargained & sold, and by these presents do grant, bargain & sell, unto the said David M. Corkran, his heirs, executors, Administrators and Assigns, the following property, To wit: Negro Woman Silia, aged about twenty years and her child Harriet aged about seven months Negro Girl Lavinia, aged about fifteen years, said Negroes being Slaves for life, and sound in mind & body Also the following other property, to wit: on Bay Mare Two sorrel Horses Two pale red Cows with line Backs one black Cow one yoke of Steers one Brindle Cow Four yearlings Twenty head of Hogs Twelve head of Sheep Two Beds and furniture The balance of Household & Kitchen Furniture Crop of wheat now seeded on the Farm where I now live Two Ox Carts one four wheeled Carriage one Carriage Waggon To have and to hold the said Negroes Silia, Lavinia & Harriet, and the said other described property, above bargained & sold, or mentioned or intended so to be, to the said David M. Corkran, his heirs, executors, Administrators and Assigns forever. In Witness whereof we hereunto subscribe our names and affix our seals this twenty fifth day of October in the year of Our Lord Eighteen hundred and fifty. Signed, sealed & delivered in the H. D. Barnett (seal) presence of Noah Abbott, J. P. Rose Ann Barnett (seal) State of Maryland, Dorchester County, To wit: On this twenty fifth day of October in the year Eighteen hundred & fifty, personally appeared before me, the subscriber, a Justice of the Peace of the State of Maryland, in and for the body of Dorchester County aforesaid, Harrison D. Barnett & Rose Ann Barnett, party grantees in the above Bill of Sale, and acknowledge the aforegoing BIll of sale to be their Act and deed And I am satisfied, from my own knowledge, that the said Harrison & the said Rose Ann, who profess to be the party grantors in the above Bill of sale, are the same persons who executed and Acknowledged the same before me At the same time personally appears David M Corkran, party grantee in the said Bill of Sale, and made Oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God that the consideration mentioned in the aforegoing Bill of Sale is true and bona fide as therein set forth, according to the Act of Assembly in such case made & provided. Acknowledged before Noah Abbott J. P. Rec.d Oct.r 26 1850 the sum of one dollar in lieu of a stamp on this Bill of sale. W.m Jackson Clk Deld to David M. Corkran May 8th 1852. |
