20. Maryland Dorchester County On the 19.th day of August 1847 personally appeared before me the subscriber one of the Justices of the Peace in and for the County and state aforesaid the above named James Collison and acknowledged the above deed of Manumission to be his Act and deed and delivered the same for the uses and purposes therein mentioned according to the Act of Assembly in such case made and provided. Before W.m W. LeCompte J. P. James Collison Be it remembered that the following Deed of to Ex.d Manumission was recorded August 19.th 1847. Negro Emily Know all men by these presents that I James Collison of Dorchester County in the state of Maryland for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving have released from slavery, liberated, manumitted and ^forever^ set free and by these presents do release from slavery, liberate, manumit and forever set free my negro Girl Emily aged four years to serve twenty one years from next Christmas day and any ^Issues^ she may have during her servitude that is to say Males at thirty years of age and females at twenty five years of age hereby acknowledging the said Negro Girl Emily to be free and discharged from all manner of service or servitude from and after twenty one years from next Christmas day and any Issue she may have during her time of servitude males to be free at thirty and females at twenty five years.
