Be it remembered that on the 30.th day of April in the year of
our Lord Eighteen hundred and forty seven personally appeared Mary Jane
Kelly the party grantor within named before me the subscriber a Justice of
the Peace for and in for the County and State aforesaid and Acknowledged
the within Bill of Sale or instrument of writing to be her act and deed
and the goods, house hold stuff and furniture and other Premises therein
mentioned and thereby bargained and sold to be the right and estate of
the within named Jonah Kelly party Grantee also therein named his
heirs and assigns forever according to the purport, true intent & meaning
of the said Bill of sale or instrument of Writing and the Acts of
Assembly in such case made and provided.   Taken and certified
the day and year above writtin                    John B. Leckie
                                                         a Justice of the Peace


James A. Stewart      Be it remembered that the following BIll of Sale
      from      Ex.d       was recorded on the 4.th day of May 1847, To wit:
John Fooks               Know all men by these presents that I John Fooks
                                 of Talbot County for and in consideration of
the sum of one hundred and eighty dollars to me in hand paid
by James A. Stewart of Dorchester County have bargained, sold and
transfered to said James A. Stewart my Negro Woman slave called
"Sydney" aged about twenty three years and a Slave for life and
now in my possession and which said Woman "Sydney" I warrant to
be a slave for life and sound in every respect.  To have and to hold
the said woman slave to the said James A. Stewart, his heirs & Assigns
forever.   In Witness whereof I have hereto set my hand and seal this
1.st day of May 1847.

Dorchester County, To wit:  on this 1.st of May 1847 personally appears
before me the subscriber a Justice of the Peace for said County
John Fooks and Acknowledges the foregoing instrument of writing
to be his Act and deed.  Acknowledged before

William Rea      Be it remembered that the following Deed of
       to  Ex.d     Manumission was recorded May 7.th 1847, To wit:
Negro Tilla       Dorchester County Maryland, Sct.  To all whom it
                        may concern be it known that I William Rea of
Cambridge in the County and State aforesaid for divers goods causes
and considerations me thereunto moving have released from Slavery,
liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents do hereby
release from slavery, liberate, manumit and set free my Negro
