the contrary notwithstanding.   In testimony whereof the said Benjamin
B. Harrison hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal
the day and date within written.

Maryland, Dorchester County, To wit:   On the 18.th day of
December in the year of Our Lord Eighteen hundred & forty eight,
personally appeared before me, a Justice of the Peace, in and for said
County, Benjamin B. Harrison, and Acknowledged the within and
aforegoing Mortgage Bill of Sale to be his Act and deed, according
to the purport, true intent & meaning of the same, and the Acts of
Assembly in such cases made & provided   And at the same time
came before the subscriber, a Justice of the Peace as aforesaid,
Reuben Tall, the Mortgagee within named, and made Oath on the
Holy Evangely of Almighty God that the consideration set forth in
this Mortgage Bill of sale is true and bona fide as therein set
forth, according to the true meaning of the Act of Assembly of
1846 Chapter 271, in such case made & provided.

Lewis Thomas          Be it remembered that the following Bill of
Exd.   from   80.       Sale was recorded on the 21 day of December 1848.
John Thomas            {Stamp}   Know all men by these presents that
                               {one dol.}  I, John Thomas, of Dorchester County in
the State of Maryland, for and in consideration of the sum of five
hundred dollars, current money, to me in hand paid by Lewis
Thomas of said County, in the said state, at and before the sealing
and delivering of these presents, the receipt whereof I, the said John
Thomas, do hereby acknowledge, have granted, bargained & sold,
and by these presents do grant, bargain & sell, unto the said
Louis Thomas, his executors, Administrators & Assigns, all the
goods, household stuff, implements and furniture particularly
mentioned, expressed & contained in the schedule hereunto annexed,
that is to say, one Clock, one Bed & Bedstead, one Bedstead, one
Bureaux, one writing Desk, 6 cain seat Chairs, 2 lots & setts
Earthen ware, one wash stand, Bowl & Pitcher, one Sorrel Horse,
2 Yoke Oxen, one Cupboard, 2 plows & 2 sets geer, 2 Hoes and
one Axe, one milch Cow, 16 Barrels Corn, 2 Stacks Blades,
34½ Bushels Wheat now seeded, all and singular which said
goods & Chattels are now remaining standing & being in a
certain messuage or tenement situate in Dorchester County, and
now in the occupation of the said John Thomas.  To have
