meaning thereof and according to the Acts of Assembly in such
case made and provided.  Acknowledged before   James Rea


Elijah B. Stevens      Be it remembered that the following Bill of Sale was
Ex.d   from               recorded on the 27.th day of January 1845, To wit:
Richard Stevens       Know all men by these presents that I Richard Stevens of
                                Dorchester County in the State of Maryland for and in
consideration of the sum of twelve hundred and twenty eight dollars & twelve
cents current money to me in hand paid by Elijah B. Stevens of the said
county and state at and before the sealing and delivering of these presents the
receipt whereof I the said Richard Stevens do hereby acknowledge have
granted, bargained and sold and by these presents do grant, bargain & sell
unto the said Elijah B. Stevens, his Executors, administrators & assigns
all the goods and chattels herein after particularly mentioned that is
to say one negro woman Ann, one Boy Joseph, one Boy Samuel, one Boy
Levin, one negro man Jonathan, one man March, Three head of Horses,
three Yoke of Oxen, two Carts, one Gig and Harness, one Loom, twenty
head of horned Cattle, fifteen sheep, twelve Hogs, five cuting Axes and
three Guns all and singular which goods and chattels are now remaining
standing and being in a certain messuage or tenement situate in the said
County and now in the occupation of the said Elijah B. Stevens.  To have
and to hold all and singular the said goods and chattels and other the
premises above bargained and sold or mentioned and intended so to be
to the said Elijah B. Stevens, his executors, administrators and assigns
forever and I the said Richard Stevens, for myself, my heirs, executors &
administrators all and singular the said goods and chattels and other
the premises unto the said Elijah B. Stevens his executors, administrators
and assigns against me the said Richard Stevens, my executors and administrators
and against all and every other person or persons whatsoever
shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents of all and
singular which said goods and chattels and other the premises In the
said Richard Stevens have put the said Elijah B. Stevens in full possission
by delivering to him the said Elijah B. Stevens one Grey Horse at the
sealing and delivering of these presents in the name of the whole premises
hereby bargained and sold or mentioned and intended to be so unto him
the said Elijah B. Stevens as aforesaid.  In Witness whereof I the
said Richard Stevens have set my hand and affixed my seal this the
fourteenth day of January in the year of Our Lord one thousand
eight hundred and forty five.
