184 of Sam.l of Dorchester County in the State of Maryland for and in consideration of the sum of one thousand two hundred and fifty dollars current money to me in hand paid by Martin L. Wright of the same county and state aforesaid at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof I the said Levin Wall of Sam.l do hereby acknowledge have ,granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant, bargain and sell unto the said Martin L. Wright his executors, administrators and assigns all the following negroes namely one Negro Man named Tom or Thomas at the sum of two hundred dollars one negro woman named Lucy wife of Tom at the sum of two hundred dollars one negro Girl named Maria at one hundred and seventy five dollars one negro Girl named Sarah Jane for one hundred and fifty dollars one negro Boy John for one hundred and twenty five dollars one negro Girl Harriet for one hundred dollars one negro woman Mary and her two small children one named Tom and the other Charles for three hundred dollars a part of which said Negroes now remain in the hands of said Levin Wall of Sam.l To have and to hold all and singular the said Negro slaves and other the premises above bargained and sold or meant mentioned and intended so to be to the said Martin L. Wright his executors, administrators and assigns forever. I the said Levin Wall of Sam.l for myself, my heirs, executors and administrators all and singular the said Negro Slaves & other the premises unto the said Martin L. Wright his executors, administrators and assigns against me the said Levin Wall of Sam.l my executors, administrators and assigns against all and every other person or persons whatsoever shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents all the said negro slaves to be slaves for life and safe property and all of which said negro slaves and other the premises. I the said Levin Wall of Sam.l have and do put the said Martin L. Wright in full possession by delivering to him the said Martin L. Wright the four following of said Negro slaves To wit: Maria, Sarah Jane, John and Harriet at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents in the name of the whole premises and negro slaves hereby bargained and sold or mentioned and intended hereby so to be unto him the said Martin L. Wright as aforesaid In Witness whereof I the said Levin Wall of Sam.l have hereunto set my name and affixed my seal this first day of January one thousand eight hundred and forty four signed, sealed and delivered in the presence of Levin Wall of Sam.l (Seale) Joel Cornwell State of Maryland, Dorchester County To wit: on this first day of January one thousand eight hundred and forty four personally appeared the within and above named Levin Wall of Sam.l party grantee within named before the subscriber a Justice of the Peace of the state of Maryland in and for Dorchester County and acknowledges |
