AN ACT concerning
Motor Carrier Safety Regulations - Exemptions
FOR the purpose of prohibiting the Motor Vehicle Administration from adopting
regulations applying certain federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations relating to
physical qualifications of drivers to certain commercial motor vehicle operators
involved solely in intrastate commerce; requiring the Administration to adopt
regulations requiring physical examinations of intrastate commercial motor vehicle
operators for certain purposes; making stylistic changes; changing the effective, date
of certain provisions of law relating to intrastate drivers who operate certain types
of vehicles or vehicle combinations; making this Act an emergency measure; and
generally relating to the application of commercial motor carrier safety regulations
to intrastate commercial motor vehicle operators.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL' ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:
Article - Transportation
25-111.
(f) (1) Except as provided in subsection (i) of this section the [Motor Vehicle]
Administration may adopt rules and regulations as are necessary for the safe operation of
vehicles that exceed 10,000 pounds registered gross weight and are engaged in the
transportation of property or passengers over the highways of this State.
[(1)](2) Any rule or regulation adopted pursuant to this subsection shall:
(i) Be formulated jointly by the [Motor Vehicle] Administration and
the Maryland State Police;
