AN ACT concerning
Fish - Croakers or Hardheads - Permissible Length for Sale or Possession
FOR the purpose of decreasing to a certain length the permissible size of croakers or
hardheads that a person may sell, offer to buy or sell, or possess altering for a
certain period of time the size limit for croakers that may be possessed by
recreational fishermen in the State; adopting for a certain time certain possession
limits for recreational fishermen; requiring that, after a certain time, for any manner
of catches, limits will be promulgated in accordance with a certain management
plan; requiring the Department of Natural Resources to conduct certain studies and
make certain reports of results of these studies; deleting certain obsolete
terminology; making this Act an emergency measure; and generally, relating to the
management of croakers.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

4-734.
(a) A person may not sell, offer to buy or sell, or possess any of the following fish:
(1) Bass, largemouth or smallmouth less than 15 inches from March 1
through June 15, and less than 12 inches from June 16 through the end of February;
(2) Catfish, except bullheads, less than 10 inches;
(3) Croakers or hardheads less than [10] 8 inches CROAKERS:
(I) UNTIL JULY 1, 1995:
1. FOR COMMERCIAL CATCHES, LESS THAN 10 INCHES; AND
2. FOR RECREATIONAL CATCHES AND POSSESSION ONLY,
LESS THAN 9 INCHES AND NOT MORE THAN 20 FISH PER DAY;
