EXECUTIVE ORDERS

(3)  The Commission shall assign responsibility for
ongoing maintenance of each monument.

(4)  The Commission shall procure sufficient funds for
the restoration of the monuments.

(5)  The Commission shall prepare education and
tourism materials for public distribution.

GOVERNOR'S COMMISSION ON PROTOCOL
FOR THE MARYLAND STATE FLAG

WHEREAS, The Maryland State Flag is a beautiful and historic
emblem of Maryland; and

WHEREAS, The people of Maryland take great pride in their flag as
they do in the State; and

WHEREAS, There currently is no official protocol regarding the
Maryland State Flag; and

WHEREAS, The lack of an official protocol has sometimes resulted
in the Maryland State Flag being displayed or treated in
ways which do not show proper respect for the flag or the
State;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, WILLIAM DONALD SCHAEFER, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE
OF MARYLAND, BY VIRTUE OF THE AUTHORITY VESTED IN ME BY THE
CONSTITUTION AND LAWS OF MARYLAND, HEREBY PROCLAIM THE
FOLLOWING ORDER, EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY:

A.  There is a Governor's Commission on Protocol for the
Maryland State Flag.

B.  The Commission shall be chaired by the Secretary of
State, or his designee, and shall consist of a
representative of:

1.  The Judiciary, nominated by the Chief Judge of the
Court of Appeals;

2.  The Senate of Maryland, nominated by the President
of the Senate;

3.  The House of Delegates, nominated by the Speaker
of the House;
