EXECUTIVE ORDERS

EXECUTIVE ORDER OF OCTOBER 7, 1988

GOVERNOR'S COMMISSION ON HEALTH CARE POLICY AND FINANCING
(Amends Executive Order 01.01.1988.03)

WHEREAS, The Governor's Commission on Health Policy and
Commission was established by Executive Order 01.01.1988.03
to undertake a comprehensive review of the State's current
health care delivery system;

WHEREAS, An expansion of the Commission is necessary to
accommodate additional representation to the Commission; and

WHEREAS, The Department of Health and Mental Hygiene has the
resources and expertise appropriate to staff the Commission;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, WILLIAM DONALD SCHAEFER, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE
OF MARYLAND, BY VIRTUE OF THE AUTHORITY VESTED IN ME BY THE
CONSTITUTION AND LAWS OF MARYLAND, HEREBY AMEND EXECUTIVE
ORDER 01.01.1988.03 AS FOLLOWS, EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY:

A.  Governor's Commission. There is a Governor's Commission
on Health Care Policy and Financing.

B.  Membership and Procedures.

(1)  The Governor's Commission shall consist of up to
[13] 17 members appointed by the Governor.

(2)  The Governor shall appoint the Chairperson of the
Commission.

(3)  The Commission shall include Subcommittees on
Long Term Care, Uninsured Persons, Mandated Health Insurance
Benefits, and such other subcommittees as the Governor deems
necessary to study specific issues of health care policy and
financing.

(4)  The Subcommittees on Long-Term Care, Uninsured
Persons, and Mandated Health Insurance Benefits shall each
consist of up to 15 members appointed by the Governor.

(5)  The Governor shall appoint the Chairperson of
each Subcommittee.

(6)  The Commission shall supervise the work of each
Subcommittee.

(7)  The Governor may remove any member of the
Commission or its Subcommittees for any cause adversely
affecting the member's ability or willingness to perform his
or her duties.
