"Person" § 1-101 "Provide pilotage" § 11-101

11-402. LICENSES.

SUBJECT TO THE PROVISIONS OF THIS SUBTITLE, THE BOARD MAY
ISSUE:

(1)  A LICENSE;

(2)  A 34-FOOT-DRAFT LIMITED LICENSE; AND

(3)  A 28-FOOT-DRAFT LIMITED LICENSE.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
without substantive change from the second clause of
the first sentence of former Art. 74, § 3, as that
clause related to the types of licenses.

The former term "warrants of appointment" is deleted
as obsolete and unnecessary in light of the defined
terms "license" and "limited license".

The term "draft" is substituted for the former term
"draught" to conform to contemporary usage.

11-403. QUALIFICATIONS OF APPLICANTS FOR LIMITED LICENSES.

(A)  IN GENERAL.

TO QUALIFY FOR A LIMITED LICENSE, AN APPLICANT SHALL BE AN
INDIVIDUAL WHO MEETS THE REQUIREMENTS OF THIS SECTION.

(B)  APPRENTICESHIP.

AN APPLICANT SHALL HAVE TRAINED AS AN APPRENTICE PILOT FOR
AT LEAST 2 YEARS.

(C)  ABILITY, SKILL, AND EXPERIENCE.

AN APPLICANT SHALL POSSESS SUFFICIENT ABILITY, SKILL, AND
EXPERIENCE FOR A 28-FOOT-DRAFT LIMITED LICENSE OR A 34-FOOT-DRAFT
LIMITED LICENSE AS DETERMINED BY THE BOARD THROUGH OBSERVATION OF
THE APPLICANT'S PERFORMANCE PROVIDING PILOTAGE.

REVISOR'S NOTE: Subsection (a) of this section is standard
language added to introduce the basic requirements for
an applicant for a limited license.

Subsections (b) and (c) of this section are new
language derived without substantive change from the
