Hybrids of Striped Bass or Rockfish and Hybrids
- Raising in Aquaculture and Selling in Maryland

FOR the purpose of adding members to the Aquaculture Advisory
Committee; assigning certain responsibilities to the
University of Maryland; exempting from certain provisions of
the law finfish that are bred or raised in nontidal
aquaculture operations in certain circumstances; allowing a
person to sell in the State, subject to certain regulations,
hybrids of striped bass or rockfish or hybrids thereof that
are raised in nontidal aquaculture enterprises by a certain
date; allowing a person to purchase striped bass or rockfish
or hybrids thereof from certain sources by a certain date;
requiring the State Department of Agriculture and the
Department of Natural Resources to adopt certain regulations
that provide for certain documentation on the sale of
hybrids of striped bass or rockfish; providing that the
moratoriums of the Secretary of Natural Resources on the
taking, possession, sale, and transporting of striped bass
or rockfish do not apply to hybrids of striped bass or

rockfish that are raised in nontidal aquaculture

enterprises; providing that a certain designation of striped
bass or rockfish as threatened or endangered does not apply
to hybrids of striped bass or rockfish that are raised in
nontidal aquaculture enterprises; making a stylistic change;
allowing a person to breed or raise hybrids of striped bass

or rockfish in nontidal aquaculture enterprises

notwithstanding certain laws or regulations; prohibiting the

Department of Natural Resources from adopting certain

regulations; providing that certain legal size limitations
for striped bass do not apply to hybrids of striped bass or
rockfish that are bred or raised in nontidal aquaculture
enterprises altering a certain definition; providing for a
certain delayed effective date; and generally relating to
the breeding, raising, and selling of hybrids of striped
bass or rockfish or hybrids thereof that are bred or raised
in nontidal aquaculture enterprises.
