[(b) This subsection does not apply to:

(i) An official initially elected or initially
appointed on or after July l, 1982;

(ii) A member promoted to an unclassified
position on or after July 1, 1982; or

(iii) A member whose tenure is terminated by an
act of the General Assembly on or after July 1, 1982.]

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1989.
