Acts and parts of Acts inconsistent with the provisions of this
Act are hereby repealed to the extent of any inconsistency.
SECTION 10. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1989.

AN ACT concerning
Evidence - Admissibility of DNA Profile
FOR the purpose of allowing the identity of any party in any
legal proceeding to be proved or disproved by evidence of a
deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) profile providing that, in a
criminal proceeding, evidence of a deoxyribonucleic acid
(DNA) profile is admissible to prove or disprove the
identity of a person; defining certain terms; requiring a
certain notice to a criminal defendant under certain
circumstances; requiring the State to provide the defendant
or the defendant's attorney with a copy of a certain report
or statement; requiring the presence of certain witnesses
under certain circumstances; providing for a delayed
effective date; and generally relating to the admissibility
of evidence regarding a DNA profile.

Preamble
WHEREAS, Recent developments in molecular biology and
genetics have established scientific principles with
extraordinarily important applications for forensic science and
thus, for both criminal and civil litigation; and
WHEREAS, It has been scientifically established that the
pattern unique to of each individual's chemically structured
genetic traits is contained in the deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) of
each cell; and
