relating to the membership of the Advisory Council on Lead
Poisoning.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Article - Environment

Section 6-604

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1987 Replacement Volume and 1988 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article - Environment

6-604.

(a) (1) The Advisory Council consists of [19] 21 members.

(2)  The Governor shall appoint the members from a
list of qualified individuals submitted to the Governor by the
Secretary.

(3)  Of the [19] 21 members appointed by the Governor,
the following members shall represent each of the following
groups:

(i) 1 shall represent the Department of the
Environment;

(ii) 1 shall represent the Department of
Housing and Community Development;

(iii) 1 shall represent the property and
casualty insurance industry;

(iv) 1 shall represent the mortgage banking
industry;

(v) 1 shall represent the Maryland
Occupational, Safety, and Health Office (MOSH);

(VI)  1 SHALL REPRESENT THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH
AND MENTAL HYGIENE;

(VII)  1 SHALL REPRESENT A DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC
WORKS IN A LOCAL POLITICAL SUBDIVISION WITH A SIGNIFICANT
PRESENCE OF LEAD-BASED PAINT;

[(vi)] (VIII) 3 shall represent owners of
rental property in areas with a significant presence of
lead-based paint;
