1988 Supplement to the 1985 Replacement Volume of
Volume 8 of the Annotated Code of Maryland is
validated by this Act.

Article - Agriculture

2-504.1.

In each county containing productive agricultural land, the
county governing body shall appoint an agricultural preservation
advisory board.

(b) (1) Except as provided in paragraph (2) of this

subsection, each member [an] OF an agricultural preservation

advisory board shall be appointed for a term of office of five
years.

10-1301.

The General Assembly defines aquaculture as an agricultural
activity. [Aquaculture] "AQUACULTURE" includes the commercial
rearing of finfish, shellfish, and aquatic plants for sale,
trade, barter, or shipment. It is the intent of the General
Assembly to create an advisory committee to promote the
development of an aquaculture industry in this State. The
Maryland Department of Agriculture is the lead agency for
promoting, coordinating, and marketing aquaculture and
aquaculture products. The Department of Natural Resources is
responsible for enforcement of laws, regulations, and rules. The
University of Maryland is the lead agency for research in
aquaculture production.
