(Senate Joint Resolution No. 13)
A Senate Joint Resolution concerning
Senate and House of Delegates - Ethics Rules - Renumbering
FOR the purpose of renumbering, without substantive change, the
Rules of ethics of the Senate and of the House of Delegates,
and correcting internal references, as adopted for the 1988
Session of the General Assembly, pursuant to State law.
WHEREAS, Section 2-707(a) of the State Government Article
states:
"2-707. Rules.
(a) Proposed amendments to the rules of legislative ethics
shall be presented by a joint resolution and become effective
after adoption of the resolution by constitutional majority of
each house voting separately."; and
WHEREAS, Both the Senate and House of Delegates have adopted
Rules for the 1988 Session in which the ethics Rules should be
numbered differently from the numbers used in previous Sessions,
and a Joint Resolution is required to renumber them; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, That Rules 103
through 115 of the Senate and of the House of Delegates are
renumbered, without substantive change, to be Rules 118 through
130, respectively, pursuant to Section 2-707(a) of the State
Government Article of the Annotated Code of Maryland; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That internal references to Rules 103 through 115
be corrected to reflect the new numbers of those Ethics Rules, as
provided in this Joint Resolution; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Joint Resolution be sent by
the Department of Legislative Reference to the Honorable Oden
Bowie, Secretary of the Senate, and the Honorable Jacqueline M.
Spell, Chief Clerk of the House of Delegates.
