AN ACT concerning
Waterway Improvement Fund - Uses
FOR the purpose of expanding the use of the Waterway Improvement
Funds structural and nonstructural shore erosion control
projects, for maintenance of certain boating facilities,
acquisition of certain equipment and State vessels to
promote public health and safety, and boating information
and education; providing that the appropriation of moneys
authorized by this Act may not exceed a certain percentage
of certain revenues attained by the Waterway Improvement
Fund; providing that the appropriation of moneys authorized
by this Act may be spent only for projects that address
certain shorelines; requiring the Department of Natural
Resources to issue certain reports; and generally relating
to the Waterway Improvement Fund.
BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

8-707.
(A) There is a Waterway Improvement Fund for the purposes
specified in this subtitle. Except as provided in § 8-709, any
money received into the Waterway Improvement Fund shall be used
solely for the following projects:
(1) Marking channels and harbors, and establishing
aids to navigation in cooperation with and as an extension of
operations of the United States Coast Guard;
(2) Clearing debris, aquatic vegetation, and
obstruction from waters of the State;
(3) Dredging channels and harbors and construction of
jetties and breakwaters in cooperation with and as an extension
of operations of the United States Army Corps of Engineers;
