(5) assist the agency primarily responsible for a
handicapped child's care in implementing and monitoring
residential placements.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1988.

AN ACT concerning

Commission on Afro-American History and Culture

FOR the purpose of altering a duty of the Commission on
Afro-American History and Culture from coordinating the
participation of black groups in the American bicentennial
observance to coordinating the observance of the Martin
Luther King, Jr. holiday; and generally relating to the
Commission on Afro-American History and Culture and
observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article 41B - Department of Housing and Community Development

5-303.

The Commission shall:

(1)  Initiate, direct, and coordinate projects which
further the understanding of black history and culture;

(2)  Continue the survey of historic buildings, sites,
artifacts, archives and repositories, and publish and disseminate
these findings and information;
