LAWS OF MARYLAND

including nursing home care, for which the individual is found to
be medically eligible. Prior to beginning the evaluation
process and annually thereafter, the Department shall prepare and
publish an inventory, of available services for use in the
evaluation and shall provide this information for assistance to
the individual upon completion of the evaluation.

(b)  The Department shall adopt rules and regulations to
carry out the provisions of this section.

(c)  This section may not be construed to require a hospital
or physician to detain a patient for an evaluation beyond the
appropriate date of discharge.

DRAFTER'S NOTE: This corrects the omission of a subtitle
designation immediately preceding § 15-301 of the
Health - General Article.

Section 15-301 was added to the Health - General
Article by Ch. 459 of the Acts of 1986, but Ch. 459
did not add a new subtitle designation.

The omission of the subtitle designation was noted by
the Michie Company.

18-206.

(a)  In this section, "sentinel birth defect" includes:

(12) [Down] DOWN'S syndrome.

DRAFTER'S NOTE: This corrects a misspelling in §
18-206(a)(12) of the Health - General Article.

The misspelling of the term "Down's Syndrome" occurred
in Ch. 38 of the Acts of 1986.

The misspelling was noted by the Computer Division of
the Department of Legislative Reference.

18-213.

(b)  While treating or transporting an ill or injured
patient to a medical care facility, if a paid or volunteer fire
fighter [or], emergency medical technician, OR RESCUE SQUADMAN
comes into contact with a patient who is subsequently diagnosed
as having a contagious disease, the attending physician or
physician's designee who receives the patient shall notify the
fire fighter, emergency medical technician, or rescue squadman
and employer or employer's designee of the individual's exposure
to the patient.

DRAFTER'S NOTE: This adds clarifying language to §
