(Senate Bill 623)

AN ACT concerning

Baltimore County - Gaming Activities ---Civic Organizations

FOR the purpose of defining "bona fide civic organization" to
include certain organizations to clarify that certain
organizations in Baltimore County may operate certain gaming
activities under certain circumstances; repealing the
requirement that the chief of police of Baltimore County
issue a carnival, bazaar, or raffle permit to certain
organizations for use in that county; repealing certain
provisions of law concerning the issuance and retention of
certain permits; altering the requirement that certain
organizations spend certain funds for certain purposes in
Baltimore County; and making this Act an emergency measure.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article 27 - Crimes and Punishments

(F) (1) IN THIS SUBSECTION "BONA FIDE CIVIC ORGANIZATION"
INCLUDES BONA FIDE HUNTING, SOCIAL, AND SPORTING ORGANIZATIONS.

[(1)] (2) In Baltimore County, the provisions of
subsection (b) of this section also apply to any bona fide:

(i) Amateur athletic organization in which all
playing members are less than 18 years of age;

(ii) Veterans' hospital; or

(iii) Veterans' organization.
