(Senate Joint Resolution No. 14)

A Senate Joint Resolution concerning

A Korean War Memorial

FOR the purpose of requesting the Governor to establish and to
appoint the members of a commission to develop
recommendations for the creation of a Korean War memorial to
honor those citizens of Maryland who were killed or missing
in action during that conflict.

WHEREAS, 111,000 Maryland citizens served in the Armed
Forces of the United States during the Korean War, 2,500 gave
their lives, and 4 are still missing in action; and

WHEREAS, The creation of a memorial to recognize the valor
of those persons will assure that their dedication and sacrifice
will be honored; and

WHEREAS, The people of Maryland want the brave deeds of
those men and women recognized; and

WHEREAS, The people of Maryland desire to pay special
tribute to those men and women who gave so much to their country
and this State during the Korean War; and

WHEREAS, The people of Maryland wish to express this desire
by establishing a lasting memorial to those whose courage and
sacrifice should be remembered; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, That the
Governor is requested to establish a commission to perform the
following duties and responsibilities:
