MUNICIPAL CHARTERS

WHEREAS, Part of Section 26-4 of the Charter of Mountain
Lake Park has been found to be unconstitutional, and

WHEREAS, The Mayor and Town Council is desirous of
correcting this situation.

[Section 26-4 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Garrett
County, as found in the compilation of Municipal Charters of
Maryland (1983 Edition), repealed and reenacted, with amendments.

Effective Date August 8, 1983]

NEW CARROLLTON

(Prince George's County)

CHARTER AMENDMENT NO. 83-01

A RESOLUTION TO ADOPT AN AMENDMENT TO THE CHARTER OF THE
CITY OF NEW CARROLLTON, PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MARYLAND (SECTION
9 OF ARTICLE 17 OF THE CODE OF PUBLIC LOCAL LAWS OF MARYLAND,
EVERSTINE'S 1963 EDITION, AS AMENDED)

AMENDING SUBSECTION 6. b., ENTITLED "REGISTRATION," OF
SECTION 6 of said CHARTER, ENTITLED "REGISTRATION OF VOTERS," TO
PROVIDE FOR VOTER REGISTRATION BY MAIL; DELETE THE REQUIREMENT
FOR A SPECIAL VOTER REGISTRATION PERIOD BETWEEN 7:00 P.M. - 9:00
P.M. ON THE FRIDAY OF THE FIRST FULL WEEK OF EVERY APRIL; AND
DESIGNATE A DATE DEFINITE AFTER WHICH PERSONS MAY NOT REGISTER TO
VOTE BEFORE A GENERAL ELECTION OR A SPECIAL ELECTION.

[Section 6 of the Charter of the City of New Carrollton,
Prince George's County, repealed and reenacted, with amendments.

Effective Date March 24, 1983]

CHARTER AMENDMENT NO. 84-01

A RESOLUTION TO ADOPT AN AMENDMENT TO THE CHARTER OF THE
CITY OF NEW CARROLLTON, PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MARYLAND (SECTION
9 OF ARTICLE 17 OF THE CODE OF PUBLIC LOCAL LAWS OF MARYLAND,
EVERSTINE'S 1963 EDITION, AS AMENDED)                           

AMENDING SUBSECTION (a), ENTITLED "TAX RATE," OF SECTION 12
OF SAID CHARTER, ENTITLED "TAXES AND ASSESSMENTS," TO MODIFY A
MAXIMUM TAX RATE NOT TO EXCEED THE RATE OF FIFTY CENTS ($0.50)
PER ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100.00) ASSESSED VALUATION OF TAXABLE
PROPERTY OR FRANCHISE WITHIN SAID CITY.
