2-701. "COMMITTEE" DEFINED.

IN THIS SUBTITLE, "COMMITTEE" MEANS THE JOINT COMMITTEE ON
LEGISLATIVE ETHICS.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language added to avoid
repetition of the full name "Joint Committee on
Legislative Ethics".

2-702. ESTABLISHED.

THERE IS A JOINT COMMITTEE ON LEGISLATIVE ETHICS, WHICH IS A
JOINT COMMITTEE OF THE SENATE AND THE HOUSE.

REVISOR'S NOTE: The first clause of this section is new
language derived without substantive change from the
first sentence of former Art. 40, § 89.

The second clause of this section, "which is a joint
committee of the Senate and the House", is new
language added to conform to other provisions that
create similar joint committees. See, e.g., §§ 2-502
and 2-602 of this title.

This section is set forth as a separate section for
emphasis.

2-703. MEMBERSHIP.

(A) COMPOSITION; APPOINTMENT OF MEMBERS.

THE COMMITTEE CONSISTS OF THE FOLLOWING 12 MEMBERS:

(1)  FROM THE SENATE:

(I)  THE PRESIDENT; AND

(II)  5 OTHER SENATORS, APPOINTED BY THE
PRESIDENT; AND

(2)  FROM THE HOUSE:

(I)  THE SPEAKER; AND

(II)  5 OTHER DELEGATES, APPOINTED BY THE
SPEAKER.
