HARRY HUGHES, Governor

1003

APPROXIMATELY THE SAME PROPORTION AS THE PARTY IS REPRESENTED IN
THE SENATE.

(2) THE DELEGATES APPOINTED BY THE SPEAKER SHALL BE
CHOSEN SO THAT EACH POLITICAL PARTY IS REPRESENTED IN
APPROXIMATELY THE SAME PROPORTION AS THE PARTY IS REPRESENTED IN
THE HOUSE.

(C) TENURE.

MEMBERS SHALL BE APPOINTED AT THE BEGINNING OF EACH REGULAR
SESSION OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY AND SHALL SERVE UNTIL THE
BEGINNING OF THE FOLLOWING REGULAR SESSION.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
without substantive change from former Art. 40, §
40A(b)(l) and (2).

Subsection (b) of this section is revised as 2
paragraphs -- 1 of which applies to senators and 1 of
which applies to delegates. This revision avoids the
possible reading of former Art. 40, § 40A(b)(2) that
the entire Committee membership be proportionately
representative. This reading apparently was
unintended since appointments are made by the
President and the Speaker separately.

Defined terms: "Committee" § 2-501
"House" § 2-101 "President" § 2-101
"Senate" § 2-101 "Speaker" § 2-101

2-504. CHAIRMAN.

THE CHAIRMAN OF THE COMMITTEE SHALL BE APPOINTED, IN
ALTERNATE YEARS:

(1)  BY THE PRESIDENT, FROM AMONG THE SENATORS ON THE
COMMITTEE; AND

(2)  BY THE SPEAKER, FROM AMONG THE DELEGATES ON THE
COMMITTEE.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
without substantive change from former Art. 40, §
40A(b)(3).

Defined terms: "Committee" § 2-501
"President" § 2-101 "Speaker" § 2-101

2-505. QUORUM; STAFF SERVICES.

(A) QUORUM.

A MAJORITY OF THE FULL AUTHORIZED MEMBERSHIP OF THE
COMMITTEE IS A QUORUM.
