CHAPTER 520
(Senate Bill 350)
AN ACT concerning
Task Force on Minority Participation in the Environmental Community
FOR the purpose of establishing a Task Force on Minority Participation in the
Environmental Community; establishing the membership and staffing of the
Task Force; requiring the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House
to designate the chair of the Task Force; authorizing the Task Force to establish
certain subcommittees; requiring the University System of Maryland to provide
student internships to assist in staffing the Task Force; requiring the Task
Force to evaluate and make recommendations regarding certain issues;
requiring the Task Force to submit a report to the Governor and General
Assembly regarding its recommendations by a certain date; prohibiting a
member of the Task Force from receiving certain compensation, but authorizing
a member of the Task Force to receive certain reimbursements; providing for the
termination of this Act; and generally relating to the Task Force on Minority
Participation in the Environmental Community.
SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That:
(a) There is a Task Force on Minority Participation in the Environmental
Community.
(b) The Task Force consists of the following members:
(1) Three members of the Senate of Maryland, appointed by the
President of the Senate;
(2) Three members of the House of Delegates, appointed by the Speaker
of the House;
(3) The Secretary of the Environment, or the Secretary's designee;
(4) The Secretary of Health and Mental Hygiene, or the Secretary's
designee;
(5) The Secretary of Natural Resources, or the Secretary's designee;
(5) (6) The Chancellor of the University System of Maryland, or the
Chancellor's designee, preferably from an historically black university;
(6) (7) The President of Morgan State University, or the President's
designee;
