Ch. 371 2006 LAWS OF MARYLAND
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 2006.
SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act is an emergency
measure, is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public health or safety,
has been passed by a yea and nay vote supported by three-fifths of all the members
elected to each of the two Houses of the General Assembly, and shall take effect from
the date it is enacted.

AN ACT concerning
Consumer Protection - Credit Card Issuers and Merchants— Merchant
Contact Information for Contract Cancellation
FOR the purpose of requiring a credit card issuer to provide to certain cardholders
certain contact information for certain merchants at a certain time; requiring
certain merchants to provide to certain customers certain contact information
merchant that provides consumer goods or consumer services over the Internet
under a certain contract with a consumer to include in a certain place on the
merchant's website a toll-free telephone number that a consumer can call to
cancel the contract and or an address to which a consumer may write to cancel
the contract; providing that a violation of this Act is an unfair or deceptive
practice within the meaning of the Maryland Consumer Protection Act and is
subject to certain enforcement and penalty provisions; defining certain terms;
and generally relating to merchant contact information provided to cardholders
by credit card issuers merchants that provide consumer goods and consumer
services over the Internet.
