LAWS OF MARYLAND 1983
MARYLAND, Sct.: At a Session of the General Assembly of Maryland, begun and held
in the City of Annapolis on the Twelfth Day of
January, 1983, and Ending on the Eleventh Day of
April, 1983, Harry Hughes, being Governor of the
State, the following laws were enacted, to wit:
CHAPTER 1
(House Bill 256)
AN ACT concerning
Insurance Commissioner
FOR the purpose of altering the method of appointing the
Insurance Commissioner to provide that the Commissioner is
appointed by the Secretary of Licensing and Regulation with
the approval of the Governor and the advice and consent of
the Senate; and providing that the Commissioner serves at
the pleasure of the Secretary; and making this Act an
emergency measure. BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments, Article 48A - Insurance Code Section 15(1) Annotated Code of Maryland (1979 Replacement Volume and 1982 Supplement) SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:
Article 48A - Insurance Code
15. (1) The Commissioner shall be appointed by THE SECRETARY OF
LICENSING AND REGULATION, WITH THE APPROVAL OF the Governor [for
a six-year term with] AND the advice and consent of the Senate,
AND SHALL SERVE AT THE PLEASURE OF THE SECRETARY.
EXPLANATION: CAPITALS INDICATE MATTER ADDED TO EXISTING LAW.
