Chapter 508 of the Acts of 1975
(as amended by Chapter 849 of the
Acts of the General Assembly of 1977)
SECTION 7. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That the payment
of any funds under the provisions of this Act for the
purpose of assisting in construction[, renovation,
improvement] and equipping the [existing] PROPOSED Prince
George's County Detention Center[,] COMPLEX including the
payment of architects' and engineers' fees, shall be
contingent upon the provision by the County Council of
Prince George's County of at least an equal and matching
fund for this project from private and other sources. The
said County Council of Prince George's County [shall have
until June 1, 1978, to present] HAS PREVIOUSLY PRESENTED
evidence satisfactory to the Board of Public Works that it
has raised at least this equal and matching fund for the
purpose of assisting in construction[, renovation,
improvement] and equipping [the existing] OF THE PROPOSED
Prince George's County Detention Center COMPLEX, including
the payment of architects' and engineers' fees. [Upon
receiving from the Board of Public Works a certification of
such suitable evidence on or before June 1, 1978, the] THE
Treasurer of the State is hereby authorized, empowered and
directed to proceed to spend the proceeds of said loan in
accordance with the other provisions of this Act. [If such
satisfactory evidence of the raising of at least an equal
and matching fund for this project is not presented to the
Board of Public Works on or before June 1, 1978, no funds
under the provisions of this Act shall thereafter be paid
over to or expended for the purpose of assisting in
construction, renovation, improvement and equipping the
existing Prince George's County Detention Center, including
the payment of architects' and engineers' fees.]
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act is
hereby declared to be an emergency measure and necessary for
the immediate preservation of the public health and safety
and having been passed by a yea and nay vote supported by
three-fifths of all the members elected to each of the two
Houses of the General Assembly, the same shall take effect
from the date of its passage.
