As to the referenced exceptions in subsection (a)
of this section, see also § 19-102 of this title.
Present Art. 43, § 792(a), which provides for
separate licensing of an individual as a speech
pathologist and as an audiologist, is deleted as
unnecessary. All provisions that relate to
audiologists now appear in Title 2 of this
article. See the General Revisor's Note to this
title.
19-302. QUALIFICATIONS OF APPLICANTS.
(A) IN GENERAL.
TO QUALIFY FOR A LICENSE, AN APPLICANT SHALL BE AN
INDIVIDUAL WHO MEETS THE REQUIREMENTS OF THIS SECTION.
(B) MORAL CHARACTER.
THE APPLICANT SHALL BE OF GOOD MORAL CHARACTER.
(C) EDUCATIONAL, CLINICAL, AND EMPLOYMENT
REQUIREMENTS.
THE APPLICANT SHALL:
(1) HAVE A MASTER'S DEGREE OR ITS EQUIVALENT
FROM AN EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION WITH A GRADUATE PROGRAM
RECOGNIZED BY THE BOARD IN:
(I) SPEECH PATHOLOGY; OR
(II) ANY OTHER SUBJECT, IF THE APPLICANT
HAS TAKEN COURSES IN SPEECH PATHOLOGY THAT THE BOARD FINDS
SUFFICIENT TO QUALIFY THE APPLICANT IN SPEECH PATHOLOGY; AND
(2) HAVE FULFILLED THE CLINICAL EXPERIENCE,
EMPLOYMENT, AND ADDITIONAL EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
ESTABLISHED BY RULES AND REGULATIONS ADOPTED BY THE BOARD ON
THE BASIS OF APPROPRIATE NATIONAL STANDARDS.
(D) EXAMINATION.
EXCEPT AS OTHERWISE PROVIDED IN THIS TITLE, THE
APPLICANT SHALL PASS AN EXAMINATION GIVEN OR APPROVED BY THE
BOARD UNDER THIS SUBTITLE.
REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
without substantive change from the last clause
of Art. 43, § 791(3), the introductory language
of Art. 43, § 793(a) — except for the fee
requirement in that subsection, which now appears
in § 19-303 of this subtitle — and as Art. 43, §
793(a)(1), (2) — as that item relates to speech
pathologists — (3), and the first sentence of
(4).
