SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall apply to acts of leaving work voluntarily which occur
on or after the effective date of this Act.

SECTION 2 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1981.

AN ACT concerning

Law Enforcement Officers' Bill of Rights

FOR the purpose of providing that the law enforcement
officers' bill of rights does not apply to a member of
the exempt service in an officer who serves at the
pleasure of the appointing authority of ii charter
county; and clarifying language.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:

Article 27 - Crimes and Punishments

727.

(a)  As used in the subtitle, the following words have
the meanings indicated.

(b)  "Law-enforcement officer" means any person who, in
his official capacity, is authorized by law to make arrests
and who is a member of one of the following law-enforcement
agencies:

(1)  The Maryland State Police; [or]

(2)  The Baltimore City police department; [or]

(3)  The police department, bureau, or force of
any county; [or]
