39) The Said John Sutton give Security to indemnify the County from the Charge of his Servt: Whereupon Comes the Said John Sutton with Morgan Brown and Wm. Tippen Who promise to the Court that the Said John Sutton Shall indemnify the County from any Charge of Keeping a Servant man of the Sd Suttons whom the Said Sutton had Damnifyed by Some blows or Stripes and that the Said John at the Expiration of the Sd Servts time of Servitude Shall Make him Such Satisfaccon As ye. Cort abuse Shall then think a Sufficient recompence for Such ^ and injury done unto his Servt. afd ~ ~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Whereas John Boyer bought a certaine Servt. woman named Mary At underworth, for and in Consideration that the Said John would well and firmly cure the Said Servt. of Some Ulcers wherewith She was afflicted It appeared to the Court that he had Discharged the Said Servt. without prforming the Same cures and thereupon ‘twas order’d that a Sumons Issue agt the Said John to Cause him to Answer the prmises, which Accordingly Issued. but the Said John not Appearing It was order’d that the Said Servt. go and remaine with the Sayd Boyer (who had An order given her for that purpose) Make his prSonall Appearance At this Cort to Answer as afd. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ James Wyat Comes into Court and proves an account agt. his Servt~ for days run away time which was Allowed and ordered ye. Ensuing year in the Same hundred as before ~ Danll Kelley appointed overseer of the highways Of Langford’s bay hundred in the Stead of James Watson Nicholas Clouds Sworn as underSherf To Mr. John Hawkins ~ It is Consented and agreed upon by Mr. John Whittington Jno Salter Order Cort Phillip Hopkins and John Chaires in Cort now Sitting that The~ Sherf be allowed Sixty pounds of tobacco for every Comitmt. of any prSon into his Custory to be paid by the prSon Committed, which was by the Cort order’d to be enterd as above ~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Wm.
